Gardens are not just for flowers

Two precious preteen granddaughters and I made the trip to visit a marvelous botanical garden on Sunday to see the largest assortment of chrysanthemums in Michigan.
I didn't take one picture of the mums.. (and regret it).

What I took were photos of what the children enjoyed; the sculptures. Imagine that!
They had fun and so did I.

"Let's hold it up!"

"The American Horse" is two stories high.. and fierce.

The bronze statue is anchored by two rods that go 25 feet into the ground and up into his whole body.

We spent the majority of our time in the children's garden, here a group of statues depict children's outdoor and sports activities,  as do my girls.

Moving their boats in the along the waterway in the Great Lakes exibihit.

I'm pretty sure they didn't even notice this gigantic metal structure because of one tiny creature....

a tiny orange and black caterpillar on the
asphalt.

In the hot, dry, arid garden.

Never let a good hill go to waste, must roll down.

Internationally renowned, the Sculpture Program at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park features more than 160 works in the permanent collection sited both indoors and outdoors on the 132-acre property.

The seasonal conservatory is changed in appearance throughout the year but is always entirely charming.

An absolutely perfect day.. thank you Lord.
Sideline Grandma..
