Honestly the things we do for fun around here.

19 people + two dogs spent the weekend at our cottage.
That was enough crazy fun right there... but here's the kicker;

Some of our guests were competing in a triathlon and boy was it soggy.

This is taken before the race, and yes, that's a taped up sprained ankle.

Hello! I'm Pink Cap Gal, I'mreallyreallynervous.

Please, pause and note the sky in the background... that sky was producing rumbling noises.
Sideline Grandma gettin' concerned.

Daddy's words of advise, "Lightning makes you swim faster, now..... .

kiss your son goodbye."
There were 231 people in this race, their numbers were written in permanent marker on each arm.
Their age on the back of one leg.
Some of those people were my age.
Apparently training for a grueling race ages people. Sure looked like it to me!

But not this group..

These are the young and the brave.
(note to reader, these people are parents.. and a very competitive bunch of mommies and daddies).
However, Pink Cap Gal still not looking all that relaxed.

At this point in the festivities many sideline grandmas and grandpas watched as their grown adult children, our grandchildren's parents,  ran into a lake while the thunder rolled, and lightning was sighted.
Good night sister..

Never let your FEARS stand in the way of your dreams.. (and all that ... ).

Looks like a blast doesn't it?

And returned! Oh my gracious Lord.

Pink Hat Gal made it and did great! Yeah.
The swim is over!

Good work .. third place out of the water in flight two.

Off to the bikes .. This photo is obviously taken before the race because although I intended to take a picture of them leaving for the bike leg we were being pelted with rain. While they took off on bikes we were huddling under the ice cream shop's roof.
Which would have been the perfect place for me except we were chilly and didn't know where our loved ones were.

They swam.. that was about it.
One person rode his bike the entire way from our group.. then, it was over.
Our guests were disappointed about missing the experience of a "tri".

Sprained ankle man sure lucked out.

We were soggy.
Some were soaked.
And chilly.
And in need of coffee
 and hot food.
And towels.

Thanks Fremont..
maybe next year...

Fellow Sideliner Grandparents.

Precious baby in Nanny's arms and, is that a warm beverage?

Smile!!! Shiver!!
The fortunate ice cream shop refugees.

Fun on the sidelines.. with S.G.
